South Africa’s leading forum on environmental governance, compliance, and enforcement returns for its 13th year. The Summit convenes senior government officials, prosecutors, industry leaders, academics, NGOs, and community representatives to address urgent challenges including climate change, pollution, and biodiversity loss.

Confirmed speakers include MEC Ewan Botha (Gauteng Department of Environment), senior prosecutors from the Gauteng and Mpumalanga DPP offices, industry leaders from Eskom, Rio Tinto, Engen, and Vopak, and academics from the Tshwane University of Technology.

A highlight of this year’s programme is the Prosecution Walkthrough Session, facilitated by Maryjane Ramahlodi (Acting Chief Director, Gauteng Department of Environment). This interactive session will unpack a real environmental enforcement case from inspection through investigation, prosecution, and outcome, showcasing perspectives from prosecutors, inspectors, and environmental attorneys.

Another key feature is the Disaster Management & Community Engagement – Rangelands session, led by Ms Sarah Mothapo (Sedibeng District Municipality). Her leadership in environmental and disaster management initiatives provides vital lessons on community resilience and preparedness in rural and rangeland contexts.

The Summit also includes breakaway sessions on mining rehabilitation and ESG reporting, as well as innovation showcases on drone technology, circular economy, industrial symbiosis, and biodiversity law. Supporting partners include the Endangered Wildlife Trust (EWT) and the National Association for Clean Air (NACA).
