
You are hereby informed of the upcoming 12th Annual Shop Steward & Labour Practice for Employee Relations Conference, under the theme: Strengthening Collaboration Between Employer and The Workforce, scheduled for 27 & 28 August 2025 at the Emperors Palace Convention Centre. This important gathering will bring together shop stewards from various sectors to engage on critical labour matters, strengthen representation, and advance the rights of workers.
Attendees will gain practical knowledge and skills in:
A detailed understanding of the Compensation for Occupational Injuries and Diseases Act (COIDA) and the intermediary role of the Shop Steward, Empowering Union Representatives with Advanced Problem-Solving and Negotiation Techniques, Addressing the role IR and ER practitioners can play together with shop stewards and union officials in creating a conducive work place for the working class, Monitoring compliance and fostering cross-border solidarity, and Standardizing Occupational Health and Safety procedures across Southern Africa.
In a time of increasing unemployment, economic pressure, workplace restructuring, and shrinking worker protections, the role of the shop steward is more critical than ever.
South Africa faces growing inequality, job insecurity, and shifts in industrial relations. Many workers remain unaware of their rights or lack proper representation.
